Born and raised in Tuskegee, Alabama and currently residing in Opelika, Alabama, Shani is wife and a mother of three. She attended Troy State University at Montgomery, Alabama and Southern Union Community College in Opelika, Alabama with the goal of becoming a nurse. Though she didn't complete her nursing degree she stayed in the medical field and became a medical transcriptionist, a job that has afforded her the comfort of working from home for the past five years. She became fascinated with creative writing in grade school and would rack her brain for hours on end trying to come up with plays and short poems. In 2005 - on a challenge from a close friend - she set out to pen her first novel and hence Keepin' It Tight was born. Once she started writing Keepin' It Tight, it was impossible for her to put the pen down and she knew that writing was her passion.
